THIS ISSUE OF CLASS NOTES INCLUDES UPDATES SINCE NOVEMBER 2019 40s Joyce E. Fink ’48 has been named Board Member Emeritus of Our Lady of Victory Charities. This new classification recognizes former board members who have served OLV with excellence and distinction. She is one of two inaugural members in this category. Joyce has served as a volunteer fundraiser, member of the capital campaign cabinet, member of the first lay board for OLV Charities, chair of its Development Committee and currently chair of the Friends of Father Baker Awards Selection Committee. Sr. Patricia Healy, OSF ’48 (pictured above) was surprised with a party on her 90th birthday at Stella Niagara Health Center (COVID style!) on August 30. 50s Ann Roach Ferguson ’55 serves as the Senior Vice President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for the 6th District. This encompasses Erie, Cattaraugus, Allegheny, and Chautauqua Counties. In 2021 she will be installed as the District President of the VFWAuxiliary. Dr. Catherine Dailey Ravella ’58 wrote a textbook chapter for therapists, entitled “Ethics in Sex Therapy” several years ago. Recently, she updated the chapter for a new edition. As a recently retired sex therapist, her biography update included spending time studying the sexual functioning of flora and fauna for Penn State Master Gardeners. 60s Carolyn Kucharski Dowling ’64 has been a registered nurse for 53 years and presently works as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo. She has beenmarried for 51 years to her husband, Michael, and has three sons and four grandchildren. She and her husband are members of the Victorian Dance Guild of the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, and she is a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. 70s Nadine Feneck Case, PhD ’70 has been named “Best Psychologist” in the North Country area of New York State for the fourth consecutive year. Mary I. Anastasia ’73 is expecting five new nieces and nephews due between November 2020 and March 2021 which will make a total of 42. Her beautiful family continues to grow! 80s Paula LaNasaMonaco ’80 recently began working with the NYS Department of Health as a contact tracer during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also accepted a position this past August at Buffalo Respiratory Therapy, LLC, working in sales and service. Denise Kowal Ligammare ’88 is the CEO of Western Division Federal Credit Union, which was named one of the 2020 “Best Places to Work” in Business First in the micro company division. Kimberly Redding Zandi ’89 received her MSEd in special education, Grades 1-6 from Medaille College in August 2020. 90s Melanie Barnas-Simmons ’95 was named a 2020 Woman of Excellence by the Rochester Business Journal. She is in her fourth year as Vice President of Advancement at Bishop Kearney | A Golisano Education Partner. She is also co-chair of the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Rochester. Melanie holds a BS in Broadcast Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She just celebrated her 20th wedding anniversary with husband Jason Simmons, a 1995 SJCI graduate. They have two sons, Joey and Jake, ages 11 and 15. JulieMcHugh Gajewski ’97 is continuing to serve St. Gregory the Great School as principal for her fourth year. She has been appointed to the Diocese School Advisory Council, serves on the Foundation for Inclusive Catholic Education (FICE) board, and most recently was appointed to the Amherst Reopening Task Force for education. 00s Brigid Hannon ’01 recently published a collection of poetry called A Lovely Wreckage , about a woman struggling with chronic andmental illnesses. It is available now on Amazon. Kathryn Kinner Hufmeyer ’01 moved back to WNY with her family in Fall 2019 and began working as Clerkship Director in Internal Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. MollyMcGuire ’01 is the newest trustee of Carousel Society of the Niagara Frontier which runs the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum. Rebecca Berowski Boome ’03 was married in April 2018 and currently lives in San Francisco where she works for Facebook in marketing small business growth. ChristinaMatteliano Haviland ’03 is a supervisory attorney in the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. She lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with her husband Colin and two sons, aged six and three. AngelicaMaier Grivna ’07 is currently a PhD candidate in art history at the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation, “Toxic Matter: American Sculpture, Materials Science, and Cultural Fear, 1962-1979,” is the first sustained examination of the intersections between artistic media, materials science, and toxicity. Elizabeth Subjeck ’07 worked on the USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) aircraft carrier until May 2017 in the Reactor Department ensuring the reactor was safely running and supporting the ship’s mission. She thenmoved to Charleston, SC to teach newly enlisted sailors about the chemistry, materials science, and radiological fundamentals associated with naval nuclear plants. Additionally, she is working on a master’s degree inmedical physics. Sarah Rodman ’09 was selected to Rising Stars for 2020, an exclusive list of top-rated attorneys in specific practice areas who were chosen after thorough evaluation of numerous criteria. Sarah was selected as a Top Rated Civil Litigation Attorney in Buffalo, NY.
