Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart has worked diligently to ensure our students experience the richness of a SHA education, while remaining compliant with all necessary COVID-19 related safety measures. Career Day and Day of SHAring both received significant makeovers which ultimately led to enhanced experiences for the SHA community. 4 C O R D E C H O S P I R I T . M I N D . B O D Y . FINDING THE BRIGHT SIDE: Covid Adjustments Elevate Student On February 3,2021 SHA hosted Career Day. Students had the opportunity to learn about potential careers and professions from 57 accomplished SHA graduates Zooming in from all over the country. The virtual program began with a dynamic and engaging keynote delivered by TaNisha Fordham ‘05, who emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself when choosing a career and encouraged the girls to listen to their hearts and start to make their impact on the world now. TaNisha is a writer, director, performer, educator and content creator. In 2019, she was honored to serve as Mrs. New Jersey United States. In 2018, she co-produced the Oscar- nominated film, MyNephewEmmett, written and directed by Kevin Wilson, Jr. TaNisha has written, directed, and produced more than 40 original productions in the past 12 years through her company, Enlightened Visions. After the inspiring keynote, each student had the opportunity to explore three different careers with our alumnae. Virtual chat rooms included law, engineering, education, art, business, and a variety of medical fields. Seniors were also invited to a special session that focused on college life and the resources available to help them find success on campus. SHA appreciates our graduates who took the time to “virtually” return to their alma mater and share their experiences with fellow SHA sisters! Allison Burd ‘22, Meghan Finney ‘22, Kaitlyn Wojtaszek ‘22, Camryn Brownschidle ‘22, Madison Piggott ‘22 and Lena DeBell ‘22 are ready for take-off! Creativity was in the air at SHA’s first ever Fall Fest! The afternoon assembly featured a pumpkin decorating contest, music from the Frankfurters German Band, cider, doughnuts, and lawn games.
