This Spring, Sister Helen Marie Schumacher, OSF ‘49 and Antoinette Schumacher Herman ‘48 joined their parents in heavenly rest. Antoinette was a retired Williamsville teacher and a devoted mother and grandmother. Sister Helen Marie entered the Sisters of St. Francis at Stella Niagara, NY, on October 4, 1950, and professed vows August 18, 1953. Her life’s work included teaching and pastoral ministry in schools and parishes in Western New York, Ohio, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Rome, Italy. Sister Helen Marie Schumacher, OSF ’48 Antoinette Schumacher Herman ’49 Remembering the Daniels Sisters As students, Jordan Daniels ’13 and Jensen Daniels ’17 were bright lights that shined through the halls of Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart. While here, they made lifelong friends and engaged in all aspects of student life. From performances to clubs to class trips, the Daniels sisters took advantage of all the experiences SHA had to offer. In July of 2022, Jordan and Jensen passed away in a house fire along with their father, Dr. Jonathan Daniels. In the days to follow, the Buffalo community responded with an outpouring of support for their surviving mother, Janessa, and sister, Jillian. Jordan was a 2017 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace University, with a B.A. in public relations. In May 2022, she received her MBA in marketing and consulting from the University at Buffalo School of Management. She was one of the founders of Buffalo Collegiate Charter School, where she served as Assistant Dean of Students. At the time of her death, Jordan was an Account Executive with the Kern Agency of Woodland Hills, CA. A committed member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Jordan is remembered by her sorority sisters as an energetic force for good who loved her family, friends and travel. Jensen was a 2021 summa cum laude graduate of SUNY Buffalo State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. She was awarded Debutante of the Year in the 2016 class sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Phi Omega Chapter of Buffalo, NY. She was also a star employee at Dash’s Hertel Market. As a student, she worked in the Residence Life Office at Buffalo State College. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Jensen worked for the Erie County Department of Health, first as a Contact Tracer and then as a Testing Coordinator. Jordan and Jensen, along with their father, will be greatly missed. The positive impression they made on classmates, friends and faculty as well as the wider Western New York community ensures that their light will continue to shine.
